Collection documents Mosley's student days at AU, his career at Southern Bell, and his involvement in AU affairs after his retirement. Includes materials on his sponsorship of awards and lecturships, and on Pinelend, a Treasure Forest in Marengo County, AL. Also includes a tape-recorded interview with Mosley about his contact with William Spratling, designer of the college seal, who was at API, 1917-21.

Spratling, William, 1900-1967

Spratling studied architecture at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University), 1917-1921. He designed the university seal that, with minor changes, is still in use; he also taught drafting at API. Spratling moved to New Orleans where he taught at Tulane University and shared an apartment with novelist William Faulkner. Mosley, W. Kelly (William Kelly), 1902-

Mosley graduated from the electrical engineering program of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1924. He worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company, based in Atlanta, until his 1963 retirement. From 1963-65 he served as president of the AU Alumni Association. He sponsored various awards and lecturships at AU, including the Franklin Lecture Series, the W. Kelly Mosley Environmental Lectures, and the W. Kelly Mosley Environmental Award.
